Meet Dave
Equal parts artist and beach bum, Dave Krovblit channels a life shaped by surfing, movement, and creative freedom into his work. The ocean sets the rhythm—early mornings, shifting light, constant motion—and that same energy runs through his art.
After years as an award-winning commercial photographer, Dave stepped away from a thriving career in pursuit of full autonomy as a visual artist. Trading client briefs for intuition, he found collage as the perfect medium—one that allows him to collect, remix, and reframe visual history on his own terms.
Medium
Krovblit specializes in mixed media collage art built through a signature digital-to-analog process. Each piece begins digitally, where compositions are shaped and refined, then moves into the physical world. Imagery is printed, hand-cut, layered, and assembled on custom-built birch panels, creating real depth and dimensionality. The finished work is sealed in resin, amplifying color, contrast, and texture.
His intricate compositions are also released as high-quality art prints, transforming complex, layered originals into collectible works that remain bold, tactile, and accessible.
Inspiration
Dave’s work reflects the world around him—surf culture, nature, art history, society, and pop culture collide in each piece. Influenced by surrealism and the hands-on craftsmanship of pre-digital compositing, he draws heavily from vintage imagery and analog techniques. Forgotten visuals are reassembled into new narratives, giving lost moments a second life.
Krovblit’s collage art is about motion, memory, and rediscovery—built layer by layer, shaped by the sea, and finished by hand.
"There is something about the flow of making art and the flow of surfing that work so well together."
